The project focused on the offices of the Principal and senior staff. These spaces serve as the hub for strategic planning and sensitive consultations. In such a high-stakes environment, acoustic “bleed” and excessive reverberation are more than just distractions—they are barriers to effective communication. The brief required a solution that ensured:
- Speech Clarity: Reducing echo to ensure every word is heard clearly during meetings.
- Confidentiality: Minimizing sound transfer to maintain the integrity of sensitive conversations.
- Architectural Integration: A finish that complemented the professional atmosphere of the administrative suite.
The Solution: Autex 24mm Cube
To meet these requirements, Sydney Acoustics selected Autex 24mm Cube. This lightweight, semi-rigid panel is engineered for high-end acoustic absorption. By opting for the 24mm thickness, the installation achieved a significantly higher Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC), essential for the solid wall surfaces found in the Burwood campus.
Precision Craftsmanship: The Feature Join
A key design element of this installation was the treatment of the panel seams. Rather than attempting a flush butt-joint, Sydney Acoustics applied a 6mm bevel to the long edges of each panel.
This technique serves two purposes:
- Intentional Design: It transforms the material joins into a deliberate, rhythmic feature element, adding depth and texture to the walls.
- Professional Finish: The beveling masks natural structural tolerances in the wall, ensuring a sharp, consistent look across the entire expanse of the Principal’s office.
The Result: A Focused Environment
The transformation of the MLC School Administration Building has resulted in a workspace that matches the prestige of the institution. The senior staff now operate in an optimal acoustic environment where focus is maintained and privacy is guaranteed. The Autex Cube panels provide a soft, tactile finish that absorbs distracting frequencies, leaving a quiet, calm space conducive to leadership and decision-making.
