MOBO Foyer Transformation

In this case study, we will explore how Sydney Acoustics successfully tackled the acoustic challenges posed by the MOBO Foyer, located on the Ground Floor at 88 Tribune Street. The client, Tactic Spaces, required an effective solution to address the extensive hard surfaces throughout the foyer, along with its 5-meter plus high ceiling. Sydney Acoustics employed Autex Acoustics' Frontier system in the Talus design and Autex Acoustics Quietspace panels to achieve remarkable acoustic improvements in the space.

Introduction: In this case study, we will explore how Sydney Acoustics successfully tackled the acoustic challenges posed by the MOBO Foyer, located on the Ground Floor at 88 Tribune Street. The client, Tactic Spaces, required an effective solution to address the extensive hard surfaces throughout the foyer, along with its 5-meter plus high ceiling. Sydney Acoustics employed Autex Acoustics’ Frontier system in the Talus design and Autex Acoustics Quietspace panels to achieve remarkable acoustic improvements in the space.

Challenges: The MOBO Foyer, though architecturally stunning, was plagued by poor acoustic conditions due to its extensive use of hard surfaces, including glass walls, tiled floors, and a high plasterboard ceiling. These features created a harsh and reverberant environment, making it difficult for visitors to engage in conversations, hold meetings, or simply enjoy the space comfortably. Additionally, the foyer’s aesthetics needed to be preserved, making it essential to find an acoustic solution that blended seamlessly with the existing design.

Solution: Sydney Acoustics collaborated closely with Tactic Spaces to devise a comprehensive acoustic solution. After conducting a thorough assessment, the installation of the Autex Acoustics Frontier system in the Talus design and Autex Acoustics Quietspace panels was selected.

  1. Autex Acoustics Frontier System Talus Design:
    1. Sydney Acoustics opted for the Autex Acoustics Frontier system with the Talus design for its exceptional acoustic properties and aesthetic appeal. The Talus design features a unique pattern resembling natural rock formations, adding an artistic touch to the foyer’s decor.
    1. The installation of the Frontier system was positioned directly above the main entrance to effectively reduce sound reflections and reverberations, resulting in a significant improvement in speech intelligibility and overall acoustic comfort.
  2. Autex Acoustics Quietspace Panels:
    1. To address the challenge posed by the high ceiling, Sydney Acoustics installed Autex Acoustics Quietspace panels directly to the underside of the ceiling. These panels are renowned for their superior sound absorption capabilities.
    1. The installation of Quietspace panels not only enhanced the acoustic quality of the space but also contributed to its visual appeal. The panels were strategically placed to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the foyer.

Results: The transformation of the MOBO Foyer by Sydney Acoustics was nothing short of remarkable. The comprehensive acoustic solution delivered the following benefits:

  1. Improved Acoustic Comfort: The combination of the Autex Acoustics Frontier system and Quietspace panels significantly reduced noise levels and reverberations, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
