Sydney Acoustics was recently engaged in a significant project for Dexus, a leading Australian property group, to enhance the acoustic environment of an office space. The project, designed by CE Architects, involved the installation of Autex Acoustics 12mm Willie Weston printed panels as acoustic wall linings and Autex Acoustic Timber Batten ceiling tiles, installed to the pre-existing ceiling grid. The aim was to improve sound quality and reduce waste, creating a more sustainable and productive workspace.
Project Overview:
The primary objective of this fit-out was to address acoustic performance in the office space while aligning with sustainable building practices. Autex Acoustics’ 12mm Willie Weston printed panels were chosen for the walls due to their superior acoustic absorption properties and the ability to be customised with printed designs that create connection to culture and place. These panels not only improved sound quality but also added an element of visual appeal to the collaborative meeting spaces.

For the ceiling, Autex Acoustics Timber Batten ceiling tiles were selected for their acoustic efficiency and stylish timber appearance. These tiles were installed directly into the existing ceiling grid, which was a key part of the project’s sustainability initiative. By reusing the existing grid structure, Sydney Acoustics and Shape QLD, the main fit-out contractor, significantly reduced waste, preventing the disposal of materials that would have otherwise ended up in landfill.

Sustainable Approach:
One of the standout features of this project was the focus on sustainability. Reusing the existing ceiling grid not only saved costs but also minimized the environmental impact, reducing waste sent to landfill. This approach is in line with the growing demand for sustainable building practices in commercial spaces, ensuring that Dexus’ office environment was both eco-friendly and acoustically optimized.
Conclusion:
The successful collaboration between Sydney Acoustics, CE Architects, Shape QLD, and Dexus resulted in a visually stunning and acoustically optimized office space that supports both the wellbeing of employees and the environment. By combining innovative acoustic solutions with sustainable design practices, the project sets a new standard for future office fit outs.
