Sydney Acoustics was engaged to provide acoustic supply and installation services for the refurbishment of the St Andrews Learning Hub, a modern educational facility located on the Gold Coast. The goal of the project was to enhance the acoustics and aesthetics of the building, creating an inviting and conducive learning environment while addressing noise control issues.
Scope of Work:
As certified installers of Autex Acoustics products, Sydney Acoustics delivered tailored acoustic solutions for various spaces within the Learning Hub. The brief called for a combination of acoustic functionality, design versatility, and sustainability—qualities that Autex’s innovative materials provided.
Acoustic Solutions and Product Selection:
- Autex Frontier – Tree Design for the Entry Foyer: A key design element in the project was the custom Autex Frontier system, which was installed in the entry foyer to create a tree-like structure. This bespoke acoustic feature not only helped to mitigate sound reverberation but also became a standout design piece. The organic, nature-inspired shape of the panels blended beautifully with the surrounding architecture, establishing a warm and welcoming first impression for visitors and students.
- Autex 24mm VJ Groove – Open Plan Areas: For the open-plan learning and communal spaces, Sydney Acoustics installed Autex 24mm VJ Groove panels in Opera colour. These textured, linear panels helped manage sound reflection and created a visually dynamic surface. The subtle Opera hue complemented the contemporary design of the space, contributing to a balanced and sophisticated aesthetic while reducing acoustic distractions.
- Autex Composition – Reading Nooks and Learning Areas: In the more focused learning areas, such as reading nooks and quiet study zones, Autex Quietspace with Vertiface faced panels in a range of colours were applied. These versatile panels enhanced both the acoustic quality and the visual appeal of these intimate spaces. The varied colour palette added vibrancy and creativity, aligning with the dynamic nature of the learning environment.
